A 6-day trip to Gitega, Ruzizi, and Kibira National Park in Burundi sounds like a wonderful adventure

Day 1: Arrival in Bujumbura and Transfer to Gitega

Fly into Bujumbura International Airport and meet your guide. Take a scenic drive from Bujumbura to Gitega, the second largest city in Burundi. Check into your accommodation in Gitega and spend the evening exploring the city.

Day 2: Gitega City Tour and Cultural Experiences

Take a guided tour of Gitega, visiting its highlights such as the Gitega National Museum, which showcases Burundi’s history and cultural heritage. Explore the local markets and interact with the friendly locals. In the afternoon, visit the famous Gishora Drum Sanctuary, where you can learn about traditional Burundian drumming and experience captivating performances.

Day 3: Ruzizi Nature Reserve

Depart from Gitega and travel to Ruzizi Nature Reserve, located in the southeastern part of Burundi. After the boat safari, take a guided walking tour through the reserve to observe animals such as antelopes, monkeys, and elephants.

Day 4: Kibira National Park

Leave Ruzizi and head to Kibira National Park, located near the border with Rwanda. Return to your accommodation in the evening.

Day 6: Return to Bujumbura and Departure

Explore the local markets and purchase souvenirs. Transfer to Bujumbura International Airport for your departure.
