5-Days Samburu and Tsavo National Park

A 6-day itinerary that includes both Samburu National Park and Tsavo National Park can be an enjoyable way to experience the wildlife and natural beauty of these two distinct regions in Kenya.

Day 1: Nairobi to Samburu National Park

After breakfast, depart from Nairobi and begin your road journey to Samburu National Park (approximately 6-7 hours). Enjoy scenic views as you drive through the Kenyan countryside. Arrive at your lodge or camp in Samburu and settle in. If time permits, embark on an afternoon game drive in the park. Look out for unique wildlife species such as Grevy’s zebras, Somali ostriches, reticulated giraffes, Beisa oryx, and gerenuk. Return to your accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Samburu National Park

Spend the day exploring Samburu National Park. Embark on morning and afternoon game drives, exploring different areas of the park. Search for elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, and a variety of bird species.

Take in the beautiful landscapes and the Ewaso Ng’iro River. Return to your accommodation for meals and relaxation.

Day 3: Samburu to Tsavo West National Park

After breakfast, check out from your lodge in Samburu and begin your road journey to Tsavo West National Park (approximately 5-6 hours). Enjoy the changing scenery as you drive towards Tsavo West. Arrive at your lodge or camp in Tsavo West and settle in. Take an afternoon game drive in the park, exploring its diverse habitats and wildlife. Visit the Mzima Springs, where you can spot hippos, crocodiles, and various bird species.

Enjoy the scenic beauty of the Chyulu Hills and the Shetani Lava Flows. Return to your accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Tsavo West National Park

Spend the day exploring Tsavo West National Park. Embark on morning and afternoon game drives, searching for elephants, lions, buffalos, zebras, and other wildlife. Visit the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary, where you may have the opportunity to spot endangered black rhinos. Enjoy the scenic beauty of the park, including the volcanic cones and lava flows. Return to your accommodation for meals and relaxation.

Day 5: Tsavo West to Nairobi

After breakfast, check out from your lodge in Tsavo West and begin your road journey back to Nairobi (approximately 5-6 hours). Enjoy the landscapes as you drive back through the Kenyan countryside.

Upon arrival in Nairobi, you can either catch your international flight or continue your journey to other destinations in Kenya.
