Additionally, a visit to Iby’Iwacu Village provides an opportunity to engage with the local community and learn about traditional Rwandan culture. Unique Primate Encounters: The itinerary includes both gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park and chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe Forest National Park. These experiences offer a rare opportunity to observe these endangered primates in their natural habitat and learn about their conservation. Spending time with gorillas and chimpanzees can be a deeply moving and awe-inspiring experience. Wildlife Safari: Queen Elizabeth National Park provides an opportunity for exciting game drives, where you can encounter a variety of wildlife such as elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, and if you’re lucky, the elusive tree-climbing lions in the Ishasha sector. The boat safari on the Kazinga Channel offers a chance to see hippos, crocodiles, and a diverse range of bird species.

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali, Rwanda

In the morning you will be met by our guide/driver, Spend the day exploring the city, visiting landmarks like the Genocide Memorial, Inema Arts Center, and Kimironko Market. Overnight in Kigali.

Day 2: Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, drive to Volcanoes National Park (approximately 2-3 hours). Arrival in the afternoon and Check into your lodge. Take lunch and visit to Iby’Iwacu Village for cultural walk to learn about traditional Rwandan culture and interact with the local community. Overnight near Volcanoes National Park.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

Wake up early for a briefing before your gorilla trekking experience. Embark on a thrilling trek through the lush forest to track and observe mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. Spend an hour with the gorillas, watching them interact, feed, and play. After the trek, visit the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund to learn about their conservation efforts. In the evening, go for golden monkey tracking and observe these unique primates. Overnight near Volcanoes National Park.

Day 4: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking in Nyungwe Forest and Canopy Walk

Start your day early with a briefing before your chimpanzee trekking adventure. Hike through the dense forest, guided by experienced trackers, to find the habituated chimpanzee groups. Spend time observing and learning about these intelligent primates in their natural habitat. In the afternoon, enjoy the thrilling canopy walk in Nyungwe Forest, offering stunning views of the forest canopy and surrounding landscapes. Overnight near Nyungwe Forest National Park.

Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Wake up in the morning and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park (approximately 8-9 hours). In the evening arrive at your lodge near Queen Elizabeth National Park and relax. Overnight near Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 7: Game Drives and Boat Safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park

Embark on a morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains, known for its abundant wildlife, including elephants, lions, buffaloes, and various antelope species. Return to the lodge for lunch and some relaxation time. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat safari on the Kazinga Channel, home to one of the highest concentrations of hippos in Africa. You may also spot crocodiles, buffaloes, elephants, and a wealth of bird species. Overnight near Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 8: Ishasha Sector and Tree-Climbing Lions

Transfer to the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, famous for its tree-climbing lions. Take a game drive in search of these unique lions resting on the branches of fig trees. Enjoy the picturesque landscapes and keep an eye out for other wildlife, including elephants, buffaloes, and various bird species. Overnight near Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 9: Lake Mburo National Park

Depart for Lake Mburo National Park (approximately 4-5 hours). Arrive at your lodge in the afternoon near Lake Mburo and check-in. In the afternoon, embark on a game drive or a walking safari to explore the park’s savannah plains, home to zebras, impalas, elands, and other wildlife. Optional activities include horseback riding or a boat safari on Lake Mburo. Overnight near Lake Mburo National Park.

Day 10: Departure

Enjoy a morning game drive or walking safari in Lake Mburo National Park. Afterward, drive back to Kigali (approximately 4-5 hours). Arrive in Kigali in the late afternoon. Depending on your departure time, you can explore the city further or relax at a local cafe. Transfer to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight.
