5 Days Gorillas and Chimpanzee Tracking in Rwanda

A 5-day itinerary to visit Volcanoes National Park and Nyungwe National Park would provide you with a fantastic opportunity to explore two of Rwanda’s most renowned national parks. Here’s a suggested itinerary:

Itenariry

Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Arrive at Kigali International Airport. Meet our guide/driver and proceed to Volcanoes National Park, located in the northwest of Rwanda. Check-in at your lodge near the park. Spend the rest of the day relaxing and acclimatizing to the altitude.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

Wake up early in the morning and have breakfast. Head to the park headquarters for a briefing about gorilla trekking rules and regulations. Embark on an exciting gorilla trekking adventure, where you’ll hike through the lush forest in search of one of the habituated gorilla groups. Spend a magical hour observing and photographing the gorillas in their natural habitat. After the trek, return to your lodge and spend the evening at leisure.

Day 3: Golden Monkey Trekking and Transfer to Nyungwe National Park

Enjoy an early morning breakfast. Go on a golden monkey trekking experience in Volcanoes National Park. These playful and endangered primates are a delight to watch. After the trek, return to your lodge, check out, and depart for Nyungwe National Park. Enjoy a scenic drive to Nyungwe, situated in the southwestern part of Rwanda. Arrive at your lodge in Nyungwe, check-in, and relax for the evening.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking in Nyungwe National Park

Have an early breakfast. Proceed to the park headquarters for a briefing on chimpanzee trekking. Embark on an exciting trek through the verdant forest in search of chimpanzees, along with other primate species and diverse birdlife. Spend a memorable hour observing and learning about the chimpanzees’ behavior and conservation efforts. After the trek, return to your lodge and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of Nyungwe.

Day 5: Canopy Walk and Departure

After breakfast, head to the Nyungwe Forest Canopy Walkway, an adrenaline-filled experience that offers breathtaking views of the forest from above. Walk along the suspended bridges and enjoy the panoramic vistas. After the canopy walk, return to your lodge, check out, and depart for Kigali. Arrive in Kigali in the late afternoon, where you can either catch your return flight or choose to stay overnight and explore the city.
