7-Days Best of Kenyan Safari

All three destinations offer incredible wildlife experiences. Nairobi National Park is unique as it’s close to the city, and you can spot a variety of animals. Lake Nakuru is known for its flamingos and rhinos, while Maasai Mara is famous for the “Big Five” and the Great Migration. This itinerary allows you to experience diverse landscapes, from the savannah of Maasai Mara to the bird-filled shores of Lake Nakuru and the unique urban-wildlife setting of Nairobi National Park. The Maasai Mara region provides opportunities to interact with the Maasai people and learn about their culture and traditions.

Itenariry

Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi 

Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi. Transfer to your hotel in Nairobi. Check-in and rest after your journey. In the afternoon, you can explore some of the city’s attractions, like the Karen Blixen Museum or the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.

Day 2: Nairobi National Park

Wake up early for a game drive in Nairobi National Park. The park is just a short drive from the city center and offers a chance to see a variety of wildlife. Visit the Ivory Burning Site Monument. In the afternoon, you can explore the Giraffe Centre or the Nairobi Animal Orphanage. Return to your hotel for the night.

Day 3: Transfer from Nairobi to Lake Nakuru

After breakfast, depart for Lake Nakuru National Park (approximately 2.5 to 3 hours’ drive). Check into your lodge or camp near Lake Nakuru. In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive around Lake Nakuru, known for its flamingos and rhinos. Dinner and overnight stay at your accommodation.

Day 4: Explore Lake Nakuru

Spend the day exploring Lake Nakuru National Park. Keep an eye out for more wildlife, including leopards, lions, and various bird species. Visit Baboon Cliff for scenic views of the lake. Return to your accommodation for the night.

Day 5: Transfer from Lake Nakuru to Maasai Mara

Drive to Maasai Mara National Reserve (approximately 5 to 6 hours’ drive). The journey will take you through the Great Rift Valley, offering stunning views. Check in at your Maasai Mara lodge or camp. In the late afternoon, enjoy your first game drive in Maasai Mara, which is famous for the “Big Five” and the Great Migration. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge or camp.

Day 6: Game Drive in Maasai Mara

Full day of game drives in Maasai Mara. You’ll have the opportunity to see a wide variety of wildlife and witness the beauty of the savannah. You can also visit a Maasai village to learn about their culture and traditions.

Return to your accommodation for the night.

Day 7: Maasai Mara / Nairobi

Enjoy an early morning game drive for your last chance to spot wildlife. After breakfast, depart for Nairobi (approximately 5 to 6 hours’ drive). Depending on your flight schedule, you can explore more of Nairobi or do some last-minute shopping for souvenirs. Transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your departure.
